For the past eleven months, the Spotlight Award has recognized staff members nominated by their peers for outstanding character, deeds, or notable situations that reflect the 9i, Inc. vision: improving the quality of life for farmworkers and diverse program participants by being the premier provider of services.
December’s award takes on special significance, as it is presented to the staff member who received the most nominations throughout the year and has not previously won the Spotlight Award. We are proud to announce that Visalia Service Center Manager Yolanda Valles has earned this distinction as this year’s Most Nominated Person and recipient of December’s Spotlight Award.
Yolanda received seven nominations and has been described as a highly attentive manager who supports her staff and is always ready to address questions or concerns at a moment’s notice. This recognition is a testament to Yolanda’s dedication, leadership, and caring personality.
On behalf of the Spotlight Committee, congratulations, Yolanda, on this well-deserved honor!

On December 15th, the Selma Service Center celebrated the season by hosting their 3rd Annual Office Christmas Tree Raffle, bringing festive cheer to the community. A few years ago, Selma Service Center Manager Karla Celis received a donation of two Christmas trees for the office. Inspired to give back to 9i customers while engaging the community, the team came up with the idea of a raffle giveaway.
The event has grown steadily over the years. In its first year, the raffle received about 15 entries. Last year, the number increased to just over 20. This year, the response was phenomenal—over 100 entries! Thanks to generous donations from Costco, the Selma team was able to give away three beautifully decorated Christmas trees. In addition, nine other families were awarded Christmas baskets filled with holiday goods, spreading cheer even further.
One memorable story from the raffle involved a dedicated customer who visited the office every day to submit an additional entry, as the rules allowed one per day. Their persistence paid off—they ended up winning a tree!
A big shoutout to the Selma Service Center for creating this inspiring holiday tradition, which continues to bring joy to the community year after year.
It was a festive celebration in London on December 13 as the London Community Center took part in the annual London Christmas Parade. The day began with the parade, which started on Kate Road and wound its way through the streets, ending at the Community Center.
At the center, attendees enjoyed pizza, drinks, and a lively, holiday-themed atmosphere. Adding to the festivities, students and their teacher from the London Community Center Guitar Lessons program performed live music, delighting parade-goers and guests. Children also had the opportunity to enjoy face painting and take photos with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and even the Grinch.
The event concluded with a special gift for the children: each child was able to select one toy to take home as a Christmas present. A special thank-you goes to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department for their continued support, without which this joyful event would not be possible.

On December 12, the Visalia Service Center proudly hosted a job fair at its location in partnership with ReadyWork Inc., creating an exciting and energetic atmosphere for job seekers and staff alike. The event provided community members with the opportunity to connect directly with a staffing agency offering a wide range of employment opportunities across multiple industries.
The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive, with turnout far exceeding expectations. Due to the strong initial participation and successful candidate engagement, ReadyWork Inc. canceled a previously planned follow-up job fair, having already addressed many of its immediate hiring needs. A total of 109 individuals were confirmed in attendance, as recorded on the job fair sign-in sheet.
Special recognition goes to the Visalia Service Center team for their coordination and hospitality, which helped make the event a success and reinforced the center’s commitment to supporting workforce development in the community.
