Success Story - Margarita Aguayo Guerra

In July 2025, Margarita visited the Sanger Service Center seeking information about job search and training services. After meeting with an Employer Service Representative, it was determined that she was eligible for U.S. Department of Labor NFJP services. She was enrolled in the program and scheduled to begin Medical Assistant (MA) training in November 2025.

While working toward her career goals, Margarita also took advantage of additional resources to strengthen her skills. She enrolled in the Everyone On – Digital Connections Training, where she improved her digital literacy and basic technology skills. Receiving a computer through this program was especially helpful, as it gave her the tools needed to support her training and future work in healthcare.

Margarita also received supportive services through the DOL, including help with past-due rent and utility bills, gas vouchers, and scrubs. These supports reduced financial stress and allowed her to stay focused on completing her training.

Through hard work and dedication, Margarita successfully completed both her classroom instruction and hands-on training. She earned an impressive 97.37% in her coursework, showing strong commitment and performance. She also completed her externship, gaining valuable real-world experience and building confidence in her skills.

Despite facing inconsistent seasonal employment, Margarita remained focused and motivated to build a stable future. At 25 years old, she was determined to improve her situation and create better opportunities for herself and her family.

Today, Margarita is employed as a Medical Assistant at Bautista Health Care in Sanger, earning $19.00 per hour. What once began as unstable employment has now become a stable and rewarding career in healthcare.
